Arlene Weekes’s “Joy, Andy and Jack” at Andy’s Guesthouse
This semi-public large mosaic artwork is installed on the garden wall of the Andy’s Guesthouse. It can be viewed from the footpath at 98 Queen Street.
Arlene is an accomplished local mosaic artist. The work depicts two figures, a man and a woman, with a Jack Russell Terrier. Rendered in many pieces of ceramic and glass with a few whimsical touches.
Arlene cast the faces of the figures in clay and fired them in the kiln at the Barraba Potters and Craft Guild. The heritage brick wall in Andy’s garden is an important part of the artwork with its rich red Barraba brick and more than a century’s patina.
